Konzert Im Kub 2

  • Kunsthaus Bregenz Karl-Tizian-Platz Bregenz, Vorarlberg, 6900 Austria (map)

While Éna Brennan, Sir David Pountney and Hugo Canoilas are still working on the new opera for the Opera Atelier premiere in 2024, those interested can already gain insights into their work thus far at the Concert at KUB. Composer Éna Brennan writes for various artists, among them soprano Shira Patchornik, who is the star of this year’s concert. In 2019, audiences were already in raptures when they saw her in the role of Tatiana in Eugene Onegin. Now, together with other musicians, she brings the newly created sounds to life and combines them with music from past centuries.

A year before the premiere of the music theater, which is currently being created as part of the opera studio, part of the composition can be heard live at the concert in the KUB.

The composer Éna Brennan writes, among other things, for the voice of the soprano Shira Patchornik, who is the focus of this year's concert. In 2019, she already thrilled the festival audience as Tatjana in  Eugene Onegin . The new composition combines the singer in particular with music of the 17th and 20th centuries, which she performs together with the countertenor Gerben van der Werf and the harpsichordist and organist Rani Orenstein.

Éna Brennan's often clear vocal lines - inspired by the solo singing of Hildegard von Bingen - will fill the acoustically unique rooms of the KUB. Pieces by Claudio Monteverdi, Henry Purcell, Barbara Strozzi, Philip Glass and Jonathan Dove will also be heard - music that moves between heaven and earth and could make the audience float...
